Work Permit

Remote work for a company outside Spain — not permanent residence

Residence for a third-country national to work remotely, using only electronic means, for companies outside Spain. From abroad, the consular visado para teletrabajo de carácter internacional (code TEL) is itself permission to reside and work remotely for at most one year (Ley 14/2013, art. 74 quater). A residence authorization cannot be filed from abroad. In Spain, someone already here legally, or whose visa has 60 days or less left, applies to UGE-CE; the Dirección General de Migraciones grants an authorization of at most three years, renewable for two-year periods while the conditions continue (arts. 74 quinquies and 76). An employment relationship may be only with the foreign company. A professional relationship may include Spanish clients up to 20 percent of the activity (art. 74 bis). The foreign relationship must already have lasted three months, and the foreign company must have been genuinely active for at least one year (art. 74 ter). Qualification is a degree from a recognised university, vocational programme, or business school, or three years of comparable experience (art. 74 bis). These pages do not state a long-term-residence outcome.

We checked for each of these and the page carried no figure. The absence is recorded with the reason, so this page states nothing the authority does not.

  • Processing time

Ley 14/2013, art. That is a legal deadline for the UGE residence authorization, not an expected wait. Art. 74 quater states no decision period for the consular visa. No month range is stored.

  • Application fee

No euro amount is stored. Ley 14/2013, art. 62.3.g, the joint instruction (octava, item 2), and the UGE checklist require proof of payment of modelo 790 código 038 and do not print an amount. The sede page (https://sede.inclusion.gob.es/w/presentacion-solicitudes-autorizacion-residencia, read 2026-09-24 only after skipping certificate verification) names punto 7, initial or renewal, for the holder and dependent family members, and prints no euro amount. The undated UGE FAQ, question 20, prints “La tasa, 73,26 € para las solicitudes iniciales tanto del titular como de los familiares”. That figure is not adopted: the FAQ has no date, the other official pages opened do not repeat it, and the live payment form was not opened. The consular visa fee is a separate charge and was not printed on any page opened.
